When The Balloon Goes Up

🌏 Recently, I had the privilege of traveling to the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) Headquarters in Hawaii for a vital Five Eyes (FVEY) working group. Our focus: enhancing the Common Operational Picture (COP) and Tactical Data Links (TDL).

🤝 A heartfelt thank you to our hosts at the USINDOPACOM Joint Operations Center (JOC), Pacific Fleet (PACFLT), and Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) for orchestrating insightful briefings, discussions, and social engagements. Your planning and execution were impeccable.

🙌 Also, kudos to my incredible teammates at the Joint Deployable Intelligence Support System (JDISS) and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), who tirelessly work on the Global Command and Control System - Joint / Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (GCCS-J/I3).

Five Eye Partners

💡 The trip was an eye-opener. It was fantastic to delve into the challenges and successes experienced by the US and our coalition partners. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we share a common goal. And yes, I could speak all their languages. 😂

🌍 The international perspectives were both enlightening and amusing:

• 🇦🇺 The Aussie's humorously blunt take: "I'm here cause my boss came in and said, 'the fucking system is fucking fucked, I need you to go fucking unfuck it!'"
• 🇬🇧 From the UK, in a thick Welsh schoolboy accent: "I'm here because my boss came to me and said, 'Excuse me old chap, things aren't quite right up there. Do you mind taking a look at it?'"
• 🇳🇿 The Kiwis, ever ready for a challenge, simply need "a surfboard and an umbrella".
• 🇨🇦 And debunking a myth: "Canadian money does not smell like maple syrup!" Perhaps it's just the old bills. 🍁

Collaboration

🚀 We face complex challenges, but our understanding and resolve to overcome them have only strengthened. It's impressive to see our collective progress.

🌟 Paraphrasing Bryon Kroger, transforming government technology is tough. It requires grit, passion, perseverance, and a strong community to bounce back when times get tough.

🔍 Collaboration is key. Working in silos leads nowhere. As humorously stated: "What did the left butt cheek say to the right? Together, we can stop this shit!" Together, we are strengthening our capabilities and preparing for any challenges ahead. When the balloon goes up, we'll be ready to soar!
